This project is my first attempt at building the world of Edgar Vega and defining a visual language that could guide both my personal brand and a future collection. Although I chose to incorporate a few garments and fabrics, I view this board primarily as an exercise in world-building. For that reason, it was important for me to include those sacred little everyday scenes: a bed cluttered with makeup, a dinner table for two, an intimate moment shared in an alleyway or a night out dancing with the one who makes your heart race. I want to explore the feelings these moments evoke and invite my customer into a world that highlights them through my own cultural perspective as a gay man who grew up Catholic. The concept begins with romance, not as something purely delicate or idealized, but as an experience shaped by longing, devotion (to oneself, a lover, a craft, or something beyond the self), sensuality, restraint, and tragedy. I drew from Golden Age Mexican cinema and visual culture, literature, religious imagery, vintage dress, domestic imagery, and expressions of masculinity and femininity. The concept boards explore a world that feels nostalgic, romantic, intimate, and emotionally charged.
